Scuba Barry Lewis
Unlike most other dive experiences you will be diving only with your group and I will be your personal guide or instructor. I want to share my excitement and love of the ocean with you!
In 2016, after a thirty-year career, I retired from the National Park Service as a Chief Park Ranger. I worked in ten national parks in seven states. Including large parks such as Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Denali, and of course Haleakala on Maui. The transition from an emergency services supervisory park ranger to a scuba instructor was easy for me. I was an emergency medical care instructor, Swiftwater rescue instructor, and more in the park service. For me, becoming a scuba instructor was an easy transition and fun!
As a father of three exceptional children, now living on their own and each certified scuba diver, I have professional and personal experience in working with children helping them become successful scuba divers. I have certified many children in the Open Water PADI-certified course between the ages of ten and twelve years old. I have also taken people in their eighties on introductory dives and certified people with physical, emotional, or learning disabilities. In addition, I worked at the Maui YMCA, teaching both children and adults how to swim.
